The Anchor of my Soul

Merciful and righteous is Your name, O LORD!

You are my Savior, the Anchor of my soul;

You are my hope and strong foundation. 

Steadfast is Your love, O God of all creation!

You, Lord, are the Shepherd and Overseer of Your holy nation.

In Your righteousness You clothe me in affliction,

And in Your goodness purify me, the man of dust.

Your ways, O Lord, are perfect and just!

In You, O Anchor of my soul, I trust.

Many are the thorns in my flesh, 

But sure is Your presence and steadfast Your consolation. 

Bountiful, O Lord, is Your unmerited grace –

Day by day, my inner self You refresh;

On me, my God, rests the light of Your face.

Though in weakness my being for a season dwells,

And my soul over my failings grieves,

Surely, I will finish well,

And fullness of joy shall indwell my heart;

For every ache and hurdle shall depart,

And everlasting rest my soul receive.

You, Lord, are my righteousness and my peace!

A dwelling place You have prepared for me in Your sanctuary;

In the light of Your face I will dwell forever.

In You, my Lord and my Deliverer, I glory;

You are my salvation and my joy,

My hope and eternal comfort,

The Anchor of my soul.

Supremely gracious You are to me, O Lord, my Keeper!

Your steadfast love upholds me forever.

Through trials and afflictions You refine my soul,

And in Your instruction and discipline establish my steps.

Though many waters rush over me,

And with anguish flood my soul to its core,

Surely I will make it to the shore,

And grief  I shall know no more.

For Your love, my God, is perfect forevermore.

In You, my Rock, the Anchor of my soul, I stand. 

In deep waters I am upheld by Your right hand;

With patience and love You strengthen and guard me.

You, Lord, have arrayed my soul with Your graceful garland.

I shall not be consumed by the fire of affliction,

Nor swallowed up by the sea of tribulation,

But assuredly pruned to perfection.

For such is Your gracious will, O Lord my salvation,

That I may be holy –

For You, my God, are holy –

And partake of the inheritance of the saints in glory,

To the praise of Your infinite and unrivaled majesty.

In You alone, O Lord of all creation,

There is forgiveness and eternal salvation.

By Your grace my soul shall live secure forever;

I will abide in the shelter of Your holy and eternal habitation.

To You, O God of grace, my Lord and Anchor of my soul,

Be the glory and honor forever and ever! 

You, Lord, are the Overseer of my soul;

You kept me from drowning in the sea of my iniquity.

To You, O God my Savior,

Belong praise and worship before the ages!

Who else is worthy, if not the King of glory?

Who alone has life and immortality.

Blessed be the Lord our Hope; 

Praise be to God my Savior, the steadfast Anchor of my soul!
